Festival of Frugality #99
I’ve Paid For This Twice Already is our week’s host for the 99th Festival of Frugality and cleverly decided to take the panel approach to showcasing this week’s posts. There were nine top scholars, ten teaching us what is frugality and what isn’t, eight enlightening us to some general tips, three talking about cooking, two on parties, nine sharing secrets on shopping, one solitary article on budgeting, two tackling health and wellness, fourteen on saving money, with three frugal creators rounding out the festival. Whew!
My top three from the festival were:
- “Melissa shows us what it means to be frugal but not cheap with Saving Money But Losing Touch at A Penny Closer.” This was one of Paid Twice’s top picks as well and I enjoyed it because it talks about the human side of being frugal, how Melissa and her friend hadn’t met up in a while because her friend wanted to help her out by not compelling her to spend. Being frugal is important but maintaining those valuable relationships is just as important, great post Melissa.
- Did you know that November was National Adoption Month? I didn’t. ‘Grace explains from her own experience Adoption on the Cheap at GRACEful Retirement. She’s adopted several children and not spent a dime doing so.” If you’re considering adoption, reading this post is a must because it explains some of the potential programs out there that may help you along the way. It’s weird to talk about frugality and adoption, but this post does a great job explaining the various programs.
- We’ve been cooking from recipes on AllRecipes lately so this post from Kris on how to analyze a recipe and adjust it accordingly by Kris at Cheap Healthy Good was very appropriate. Incidentally, Kris, I would never listen to Megdoodle from Monkeybutt, Kentucky (See Tip #5).
Next week the auspicious and celebratory 100th Festival of Frugality goes to none other than Dawn at Frugal for Life and she’s specially requested this special 100th edition a few months ago. So, please submit your best frugal post of the week because you do not want to miss out.

Thank you so much for the mention! And yeah - beware of Megdoodle. She knows not of which she speaks.
