Join Joe and the Festival of Frugality
This week, you should join Joe the Photographer as he explains why he’s always so darned happy! In fact, the story of Joe’s life is the theme of this week’s Festival of Frugality hosted by the fine folks at FIRE Finance. Twenty six articles made the cut this week and FIRE did a great job in presenting the festival in story-form.
Here are some gems:
- Avoid using the oven and save some electricity, that’s one of the six easy tips for saving on electricity. I try to avoid using the oven, especially in the summer (go with the grill), because it does consume so much energy - a tremendous amount compared to a microwave.
- The Simple Dollar gives suggestions on how to get your favorite shows even without cable. While I’m not sure buying boxed sets and then selling them after you watch them is the best idea, it’s better than keeping them (you probably won’t watch them), I’d recommend trying to get your local library to buy them so you can borrow them.
- I think the newspaper is a waste of money but I do know that they’re often chock full of coupons, so it’s not surprising when someone says that their newspaper saved them $25.
Enjoy the Festival and get your entries in for next week, where it’ll be hosted by The Simple Dollar!
